Secluded and yet AccessibleNew Lanark Mill Hotel is in the enviable position of being located in the rural splendour of the Clyde Valley, beside the spectacular and famous waterfalls. It is less than an hour from Glasgow and Edinburgh. Transport Options: The village is about a mile and a half from the centre of Lanark, about 25 miles south-east of Glasgow, and 35 miles south-west of Edinburgh. By Car: If you are coming by car you will find that New Lanark is well signposted from all the main roads to Lanark, on brown tourist signs. From the South, use the M6, then the M74, and leave the motorway at Junction 13 for Abington. You have to pass through the market town of Lanark to reach New Lanark. From Edinburgh use the A70, via Carnwath, and from Glasgow either the M8 eastbound, or the M74 southbound. When you reach Lanark, follow the signs for New Lanark. As you approach the village on the New Lanark Road, you will see signs indicating that you should turn right down the hill for New Lanark Mill Hotel. Turn right when through the village gates and the hotel is directly in front of you.

By Train: From Glasgow: the trains to Lanark (usually a half-hourly service) normally leave from the Low Level at Glasgow Central Station. The journey takes about 50 minutes. From Edinburgh: take the train to Motherwell and change to the Glasgow - Lanark service. From Lanark station you can get a local taxi, or sometimes, depending on the time of your arrival, a local bus down to the village of New Lanark, which is about a mile and a half from the station. Taxis are usually parked opposite the Lanark Bus Station, which is itself right next to the Lanark Train Station. The Lanark Tourist Information Centre is also situated here. If you're feeling energetic, you can walk to New Lanark in approximately 20-25 minutes – it's downhill all the way!
